Trip to Sparkle 2016: National Transgender Celebration in Manchester, 7-11 July 2016

Many diamonds attended (see the photo archive on the website, or Facebook, for photos) and in spite of the rain had lots of fun variously enjoying the atmosphere and live music in Sackville Gardens and on Canal Street, attending the talks and workshops at the LGBT Foundation, eating out in the pubs, restaurants and tea rooms, browsing the shops (and scouring the city in search of navy blue wool for the Diamonds Pandas), visiting museums, making new friends and catching up with old ones from across the country, and partying the nights away in the pubs and clubs of Manchester's Gay Village. Three new panda mascots were born: Lulu II (who disappeared off with a fellow passenger on the train out), Rose (who is very pink due to a temporary blue wool shortage), and a third who has yet to be christened.

A huge thanks must go to Gem for organising the accommodation at Weston Halls for us. Please click here to give feedback and register your interest for next year!

Sparkle 2016 Room Booking

We're currently organising our trip to the Sparkle National Transgender Celebration event in Manchester on 8th-16th July. Gem has been working hard getting some cheap accommodation for us and is now taking bookings - please click here to book a room!

May Dining Club at Pipasha

Gem has booked some spaces at Pipasha Restaurant on Newmarket Road for tomorrow's dining club (Saturday 7th May). If you'd like to come, please let her know!

Transman meetup arranged!

We've scheduled a first meetup for transmen - anyone in the Cambridge area who identifies within the transgender spectrum/umbrella and was registered female at birth - and we hope that this will become a regular group. The aim is to get the guys together in a safe space, instead of lurking in the dark corners of our facebook group! Police visit, Thursday 28th Jan

Matt Gadsby, Community Cohesion & Partnership Support Sergeant of Cambridgeshire Police Constabulary will be visiting to discuss policing in the city. Lets have a good turn out for him and have your questions and concerns ready for him.

Sorry, I haven't had a chance to contact the Polish club.
Today has just been as mad as previous days - It does look good though.

The good news is that the NEW CHINESE has opened at the site of the Hot Pot on Chesterton Road,
so that is my new plan B
They have no menus and no phone, which also probably means it is cash only (so what has changed, you ask)

Leaflet and poster design meeting, Milton Tesco Costa, 1pm

Rescheduled from Sunday, we're having a planning meeting to start designing leaflets and posters to promote Diamonds at festivals such as the Big Weekend. Please come along and share your ideas! If you plan to come please let us know so that we know who to expect and also so we can let you know if the time or place changes!

KaLing's farewell dinner at the Hotpot on Thursday

As you may know the Hotpot restaurant on Chesterton Road has been one of our favourite Dining Club venues over the years and the owner KaLing (who has always made us feel very welcome there) is leaving this week.  She has invited us to her farewell party on Thursday evening (from 7 pm with optional food (£10) at 7.30 pm; drinks priced as usual).  We need to let her know who's coming, so if you would like to come please let us know! Please note that there may not be any Diamonds members at the regular Thursday "Meet, Chat and Discuss" at the Boathouse if we're all at the Hotpot, so if you do want to go to the Boathouse you may wish to watch the forum or check with us if anyone is going to be there.
