The date is yet to be decided and your input is needed!

Thankyou for your participation!

I plan to book tomorrow (Friday) lunch time so there is still a chance to influence the decision...

Still meeting at the Boat House

Hi All,
We are still meeting at the Boathouse pub, Chesterton Rd.
Wednesday evening.
We have the function room upstairs available where there are extra loos that are big enough for changing in,
though you will often find us sitting downstairs listening to the live music for the earlier part of the evening.

Friday 2 August 2013

Dining club: The Wrestlers

This Saturday's Dining club will be Thai food at the Wrestlers.
See you there around 8pm!

Monday 8 July 2013

Wednesday 10th: Bring and Buy

Hi All!
We are doing a bring and by in the Boathouse function room this week.
You can swap and donate, or sell and donate, we don't mind, just bring some nice stuff!
'helpful advice'
Pack your suitcase for sparkle, take a look at what is left over, and bring it along.

Thursday 4 July 2013

Dining Club this Saturday: Yippee Noodles, King Street.

We will be eating at Yippee noodles, which is a "quick in-and-out" noodle bar, so not a "posh frock" event.
We will meet at the Boathouse pub around 7:30 and make our way to the noodle bar for 8:00.
Then after probably try the pub on the corner, The Cambridge Brew House, recently re-opened.
Hope to see you there!

Thursday 13 June 2013

Special Wednesdays

We thought it was time we made proper use of the room, so there will be a few special events scheduled over the coming Wednesday evening meets:

 Wednesday June 26th  Susan's Quiz

Yes, it is time to ask that question again, followed by the other 39. Prizes, too!

Wednesday July 10th  Bring and Buy

Time to downsize that wardrobe! Dig out all those sizing failures and colour clashes, and exchange them with someone else's mistakes! Between us, we do have fashion sense!

Friday 7 June 2013

Next Dining Club. Ideas?

Time to revive Dining Club after a break for the last few months ..
The next dining club will be July 6th.
Sue says she would like to go somewhere interesting and inexpensive.
In Cambridge?
Any ideas?

Back in the Function Room at the Boathouse Pub!

Now that Strawberry Fair is over, we have use of the function room again!
We meet every Wednesday, and the function room comes with its own private toilet and changing area,
though we do have to share the main bar.
As before, we tend to meet up in the main lounge, listen to the band for a while, then slide upstairs later.

Wednesday 8 May 2013

Function room unavailable

Whilst the group is still meeting at the Boathouse pub on a Wednesday evening, we have lost the function room for the next few weeks.
This also means we have lost our exclusive changing area.
If that is an issue please contact me at first_contact@tgcambridge.org.uk and we will see what we can do!

This is due to a long-standing arrangement with the Strawberry fair committee that everyone forgot about!
The good news is we get free entry for our cooperation, the bad news is it was already free!

Tuesday 26 March 2013

Still meeting at the Boathouse

A reminder that our regular meetings are now at the Boathouse public house on Chesterton Road, every Wednesday evening.
We have booked the room upstairs, but like to sit back and listen to the music earlier in the evening, so you might find us crowded round our "dubious" money box downstairs!

Friday 1 March 2013

Weds 6th March

We will be meeting at the Boathouse, but the private room is already booked, so we will have to suffer the live music all night!
The large oval table is reserved, and you should be able to recognise us by our money box, if nothing else.

Monday 11 February 2013

Wednesdays at the Boathouse

This will be our third week at the Boathouse, and hopefully I will remember to prepare some signs...
Newcomers can easily sneak upstairs and have exclusive use of the toilets found there, so please do come along!

Tuesday 5 February 2013

End of Tonga

No, it hasn't sunk below the waves, and disaster charities are not rushing towards the international date line in their droves.
But the guys behind "go.to" and similar redirection addresses have pulled the plug, so our short addresses, eg tgcamb.1@forward.to no longer work, sorry.
You can always get to us through our long email address: first_contact@tgcambridge.org.uk
Unless someone in Tonga treads on the cable and the whole internet goes down, of course!

New Venue: Boat House

The Diamonds group has agreed to secure the function room of the Boat House, Chesterton Road  CB4 3AX on Wednesday evenings for a trial period of the next 5 weeks.

This room is easily accessed from the car-park entrance, and has separate toilets which can be used for changing, but members will purchase drinks at the main bar. Additional facilities are yet to be agreed with the management. There is no easy disabled access.

Food and live music are available in the main lounge.

Short-term, donations will be gratefully received on the door which we hope will help cover this expense.

Long-term, it is our expectation that while donations on the night will still be gratefully accepted, they will go toward general group expenses.

Extraordinary meeting points of order

Extraordinary meeting points of order:

The upshot of the survey from 19 respondents was:

Quorum:
Min 0, Max 20, Mean 17, Median 15.
Result: 17 eligable voters will be required at the meeting for voting to take place at the meeting
Otherwise the meeting will discuss and minute the issues and present vote-able questions to the yahoo group.
Eligability:
My apologies that it wasn't clear that those who vote may also speak. That was my intent.

Note that in the above table the percentages are misleadingly high, as they are against the number of votes in that row, not against 19

Unknown persons: Majority agree they may observe. Half feel they should be allowed to speak (6) or vote (3), though those vote votes were before I clarified the question.
Result: Unknown persons are welcome and if present we should show-of hands to allow them to speak.

Email contacts are welcome  (direct to Gem, Di, or the website, who are not Yahoo or ever visited): Same as unknown persons

To understand the meaning of unselected choices here I had to look at the underlying data.

Yahoo membership:
Result: Any member > 3 months may speak, but require a membership of 9 months to vote.
Having posted does not confer a significant benefit (6 to speak).

OR Meeting visits:
1 visit allows speaking - note that tonight's meeting does not count, but would confer future membership.
2 visits are required to vote, which must have occurred in the last year

Voting is not restricted to TG members, though this was a bit close.

So now you know if you really are a member of Diamonds. Hope to see you this evening!

extraordinary general meeting

This week's meeting, on Wednesday 23/01/12013, will be an extraordinary general meeting, which will take place at the Georgina reception and booking office, on Chesterton Road. This is behind the orange utility block near the Boathouse pub.

The meeting is to discuss the idea pof charging at thregular meetings, and will start at 9pm with a £1 charge for this (it has started already), and no bar.Meeting before or after in the Boathouse pub.

Please checkout the linked survey, intended to gather a set of ground-rules for this meeting to inform and protect the members who cannot attend. You may note that the result of the survey may limit your role at the meeting.

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XK9XQY5

Please take the time to fill it in. If the number of respondents is fewer than the suggested quorum, then I will be forced to take the lower figure...

How will this information be collated?
I will publish the numerical results and conclusions on our Yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tgcamb/ by Wednesday afternoon.
Also on the so-far unpublished blog: http://diamondscamevents.blogspot.co.uk/
If there are any objections to the conclusion, they can be discussed at the start of the meeting, informed by the full results.

New Venue

Cambridge Diamonds has a new venue!

The County Arms, a mainstream public house on Castle Street, is delighted to welcome the Diamonds group every Wednesday evening!

All other arrangements are pretty much the same as before, except we now have a selection of ales and wines to choose from and a full menu of meals or bar snacks!

I hope you can come join us soon!
